About the Doctor

From Dr. Louis A. Brown, M.D.

I did my Dermatology Residency training at Howard University Hospital, in Washington, DC; completing the program in 1985. I interned in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; completing the program in 1982. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1981. I majored in Chemistry at Princeton University, graduating in 1977.
I have strived to keep current in my field to the extent that I annually close my office for a week in order to refresh my clinical skills at the annual American Academy of Dermatology meeting, which I have been a member of continuously since 1985. I have received multiple AAD Continuing Education Awards to certify my maintenance in our Academy's educational standards. Also, I hold memberships in the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, as well as the Philadelphia Dermatologic Society.

My practice is office based, however I am affiliated with the Philadelphia Protestant Home. I do all of my procedures in my fully-equipped OSHA compliant state-of-the-art surgical suite, staffed by a registered nurse and CPR certified medical technicians. I have performed over 10,000 procedures since starting my practice. I have many satisfied patients, as evidenced by the numerous referrals by family members and friends of patients to my practice.
I participate in Medicare and the not for profit Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans. Otherwise, the payment is fee for service. Patients with private plans, PPOs and HMOs are welcomed on a fee for service basis. Should your plan have an out-of-network option, appropriate deductibles and copayments would be required at the time of service.

Over my many years of practice, I have had the privilege of treating people from all walks of life and all ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds, with the understanding that I am treating them as I would wish to be treated if I had their dermatologic concerns.
